Measurement principle: Nitrite (NO2-) ions in water react chemically with sulfonamide to form a diazonium salt solution, which then reacts with naphthylethylenediamine hydrochloride solution to form azo dyes. The formed azo dyes have characteristic absorption at 550nm light. Using Lambert Beer's law to obtain the concentration of nitrite ions.
