What are the precautions for magnetic soil selection machine
Date: 2025-09-16Read: 4
The precautions for using magnetic soil selection machine (magnetic separator) are as follows

1、 Preparation before operation

  1. Equipment inspection
    • Transmission systemCheck the lubrication condition of components such as motors, reducers, and bearings to ensure that there is no oil leakage, looseness, or abnormal wear.
    • power lineConfirm that the circuit is not damaged, the grounding is good, and avoid the risk of short circuit or electric shock.
    • around the equipmentClear obstacles, ensure unobstructed operating space, and prevent personnel tripping or equipment collision.
    • Feeding systemCheck whether the feeding pipe, distribution bucket, and flushing pipe are unobstructed, and whether the valves are flexible to avoid material blockage or leakage.
  2. Environmental confirmation
    • high-temperature environmentThe magnetic field of the magnetic block may weaken, and it is necessary to test the magnetic field strength in advance and adjust the equipment parameters if necessary.
    • Wet environmentMetal parts are prone to oxidation and rusting, and require rust prevention treatment (such as applying rust proof oil or using stainless steel materials).
    • windy weatherOutdoor operations should be suspended in case of strong winds above level 5 to prevent equipment from tipping over or materials from scattering.

2、 Monitoring during operation

  1. Key parameter control
    • magnetic field strengthAdjust the magnetic properties of the material to ensure effective adsorption of magnetic particles and smooth discharge of non-magnetic particles.
    • Slurry concentration and flow rateHigh concentration can easily lead to insufficient sorting, and too fast flow may reduce recovery rate, which needs to be kept stable.
    • liquid levelKeep the liquid level in the tank stable and prevent a small amount of overflow to avoid a decrease in sorting efficiency caused by a low liquid level.
  2. Equipment status check
    • Temperature and noiseMonitor the temperature of components such as motors and reducers. If there is an abnormal increase or noise, immediately shut down for maintenance.
    • Drum and groove bodyCheck if the surface of the drum is clean to avoid slag adhesion affecting the adsorption capacity; Confirm that there is no leakage in the tank to prevent material waste.
    • Transmission componentsRegularly inspect the wear of chains, sprockets, and gears, lubricate or replace them in a timely manner to prevent jamming or breakage.
  3. Safety operation standards
    • Do not touch rotating partsIt is strictly prohibited to touch the drum, chain, etc. with hands or tools during operation to prevent entanglement or scratching.
    • exception handlingWhen material blockage, abnormal equipment noise, or vibration is found, immediately stop the machine for cleaning or maintenance to prevent the fault from expanding.
    • personnel protectionOperators need to wear protective goggles and gloves to prevent slurry splashing or mechanical injury.

3、 Maintenance after shutdown

  1. Cleaning and Inspection
    • Residual materialsClean the accumulated materials in the feeding box, concentrate box, and tailings box after shutdown to prevent clumping or corrosion of the equipment.
    • Fastener inspectionRegularly check whether the screws and chain pins in each part are loose, and tighten or replace them in a timely manner.
    • Wear resistant layerCheck the wear condition of the outer wear-resistant shell of the drum. If it is worn through, it should be replaced immediately to prevent water from entering the inside of the magnetic drum.
  2. Lubrication and maintenance
    • Bearing lubricationAdd specialized lubricating grease (such as Shell Alvania R2 type) to the drum bearings every week to maintain good lubrication.
    • Chain and sprocketAfter cleaning, apply lubricating oil to ensure smooth transmission and reduce wear.
    • Gearbox oil levelRegularly check the oil level of the reducer and replenish it promptly if it is insufficient to avoid damaging the gears due to dry grinding.
  3. Long term parking management
    • rust prevention treatmentWhen the downtime is long, apply rust proof oil to the metal parts and cover them with dust covers.
    • Fixed equipmentDuring flood season or shutdown, tie the equipment in a secure position to prevent it from being washed away or overturned by water flow.
    • Record and archiveEstablish maintenance files to record the time of each maintenance, replacement of parts, and equipment status, providing reference for subsequent maintenance.

4、 Special scenario precautions

  1. River sand magnetic separator
    • Big arm operationFlexibly adjust the angle of the boom according to the thickness of the sand layer to avoid equipment overload caused by excessive sand in the hopper.
    • Obstacle avoidanceWhen encountering large rocks or mud layers underwater, immediately lift the sand digging arm to prevent severe vibration of the ship from damaging the equipment.
    • Shutdown sequenceWhen stopping the machine, first lift the boom and wait until the sand in the hopper is less than 1/2, then stop the feeding motor, magnetic separator, and water selection system in sequence.
  2. High precision magnetic separation scene
    • Magnetic field uniformityRegularly calibrate the magnetic field strength to ensure uniform magnetic field in the sorting area and avoid uneven adsorption of magnetic particles.
    • Anti pollution measuresUse oil-free lubricants to prevent lubricant contamination of concentrate and affect product quality.
    • Precision component protectionAvoid scratching the surface of the drum with sharp objects to prevent damage to the magnetic system or leakage of the magnetic field.
