True density refers to the actual mass of solid material per unit volume in a dense state, that is, the density after removing internal pores or gaps between particles. True density is the most basic physical parameter of powder materials. After knowing the apparent volume of the sample, the closed pores and porosity of the porous material can be tested simultaneously. The traditional method for measuring true density is based on the Archimedes principle using a specific gravity bottle. This method is prone to reading errors and testing errors caused by sample dissolution when manually operatedThe ISO standard organization officially implemented the gas volume displacement method for analyzing the true density of powders, particles, etc. in 2014.

Testing method for true densityIt is to add the sample into a container with a known volume, seal the container and introduce a certain amount of nitrogen gas. The pressure sensor measures the internal pressure of the container, and then the gas inside the container diffuses to another container with a known pressure and volume. The pressure sensor measures the equilibrium pressure inside two connected containers, and the computer controls the fully automatic testing and analysis. According to the gas law, the true volume of the sample is obtained, and the true density is calculated by dividing the sample mass by the volume.
