Binchuan County, Dali, Yunnan Province, enjoys the reputation of being the "hometown of Chinese fruits". The sunshine here is generous, with a total of 2719 hours of sunshine throughout the year and a temperature difference of 15.4 ° C between day and night. It is a natural greenhouse for the growth of crops such as oranges and grapes.
As you approach, you will discover that this seemingly favored land by heaven actually harbors little-known difficulties: high human resources investment, limited management efficiency, and slow efficiency improvement, which are still challenges faced by many fruit farmers.
With concern for this' difficulty ', the' New Farmers' Conference 'came to Binchuan. The "New Farmer Conference" is a technology empowerment platform created by Jifei for global agricultural producers. Through various methods such as cutting-edge technology sharing, product demonstration training, and planting experience exchange, it brings practical, efficient, and practical smart agriculture solutions to farmers, helping to improve the quality and efficiency of agriculture, and reducing costs and increasing income for farmers.
On July 16th, the Jifei Technology New Farmer Conference was held in Binchuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan. At the conference, agricultural technology experts and representatives of orchard owners shared practical application experience of plant protection, aerial defense, and water fertilizer integration around crops such as grapes and tangerines, bringing more accurate, intelligent, and efficient solutions for orchard planting scenarios facing the dual constraints of mountainous terrain and high temperature climate.
Gong Qiqin, co-founder of Jifei, shares the exploration path of Jifei Technology's smart agriculture
From this dry and hot valley
Understand the significance of intelligent management
Uncertainty has become the norm, and agricultural production also faces many challenges. The shortage of rural labor and frequent extreme weather conditions are impacting traditional planting patterns with every variable.
Gong Chaqin, co-founder of Jifei Technology, shared that in the face of challenges beyond the capacity of traditional agricultural systems, the demand for crop protection, precision irrigation, and agricultural monitoring will continue to grow, and establishing a production model with rapid response will also become an inevitable trend. The orchards in Binchuan are a typical example of this trend.
Binchuan is located in the dry hot valley area on the south bank of the Jinsha River, and has a typical South Asian tropical dry hot monsoon climate. The average temperature in hot months in summer can reach up to 30 ℃. Moreover, the annual evaporation here is as much as four times the precipitation.
Under the combination of extreme high temperature and drought, as well as the mountainous terrain of "no flat feet", the orchard planting in Binchuan has formed a special dilemma: the mountainous terrain is complex, and daily irrigation and plant protection rely heavily on manpower. Once there is a shortage of labor, timely management is difficult, and the stability of fruit quality cannot be guaranteed.
If high temperature, drought, and complex terrain are inherent constraints, then the changes in the fruit market are another layer of more realistic pressure.
In recent years, with the continuous expansion of fruit planting areas such as Yunnan Wogan and grapes, and sufficient market supply, the phenomenon of polarization has become increasingly evident. High quality fruits can be sold at good prices, while low-quality ones are prone to unsold. Farmers no longer only focus on yield per acre, but also pursue how many high-quality fruits can be sold per acre, which has become their urgent need.
Faced with this pain point, Liu Bo, the product platform manager of Jifei Technology, found that improving the rate of high-quality fruits requires adapting to local conditions and developing more stable and refined seasonal management plans.
Water and fertilizer management and plant protection are key links in management. Traditional irrigation and fertilization rely on human labor, and it is difficult to achieve precise control in different terrains, resulting in low water and fertilizer utilization efficiency.
Liu Bo, the person in charge of Jifei Product Platform, shares the intelligent upgrade and renovation plan for mountain orchards
In response to the challenges of water and fertilizer management, the Jifei F series intelligent water and fertilizer management system provides an integrated solution. The system can implement scheduled and regional rotation irrigation according to specific needs, greatly reducing the frequency of manual on-site visits; Automatic pressure regulation, automatic metering, and timed and quantitative execution of tasks have also improved the instability of manual irrigation, providing a better environment for fruit growth.
However, even if the fruit grows well, if the fruit surface is damaged by pests and diseases, missing the prevention window, it will still affect the final fruit. Artificial spraying is also difficult to cater to different tree shapes and structures of fruit trees, which can lead to situations of excessive spraying and missed spraying. In the actual homework process, various problems caused by manual operation are difficult to timely review due to the lack of data tracking.
This requires more intelligent means to return the certainty of crop protection to farmers. Jifei X Series Agriculture
RobotTransforming the uncertainty of traditional drug dispensing into controllable parameters, humans only need to be responsible for decision-making, and the rest can be left to robots.
After setting parameters based on actual terrain, tree vigor, and control targets, the X series agricultural robot can complete processes such as automatic liquid dispensing, automatic liquid addition, and automatic charging, ensuring that every plant protection task can be executed on time, as needed, and in quantity.
When crop protection is more precise, water and fertilizer are more efficient, fruit quality is stabilized, and costs are also controlled, this is the most solid confidence for growers to resist market fluctuations.
From a 32 acre vineyard
To 180 smart farms
The series of smart agriculture solutions provided by Jifei not only stay at the technical level, but also create considerable benefits for farmers in actual production. Zhang Zhen, a farmer in Binchuan, and his wife Zhang Yujiao are the most direct beneficiaries and promoters of this plan.
In the agricultural supply circle of Binchuan, Zhang Zhen is an all-around player who understands both technology and farming. He has been deeply involved in agricultural supply services for 13 years and has operated his own orchard for 8 years. Currently, he owns 130 acres of Wogan orchards and 32 acres of vineyards. The low efficiency, high cost, and difficult management caused by the height difference of mountainous orchards have always been the problems he wants to solve from the root.
Zhang Zhen, a grape and tangerine grower from Binchuan County, Yunnan Province, shares his experience in building an intelligent water and fertilizer system for orchards
This 32 acre vineyard was initially managed by Zhang Zhen's wife Zhang Yujiao, who hired two long-term workers to take care of it on a daily basis. But later on, the grape industry continued to decline, with two long-term workers incurring an annual cost of 90000 yuan, causing a sudden increase in business pressure. Zhang Yujiao had to take over the management on her own.
However, it is not easy for one person to support a garden. Yunnan's mountainous terrain is steep and complex, and physical strength is the first hurdle. Watering, fertilizing, and patrolling the fields, starting with 13000 WeChat steps per day, is Zhang Yujiao's daily routine. Binchuan is hot at noon, and often has to work at night. There are many snakes, insects, mice, and ants on the mountain, and she often needs her 11 year old daughter to accompany her. Her hands have also cracked due to long-term exposure to fertilizers and cold water immersion.
The turnaround began in July 2025. Just after harvesting, Zhang Yujiao installed the Jifei intelligent electric valve under Zhang Zhen's introduction. Without having to climb down the slope and open and close valves one by one, the task of watering has transformed from physical labor to fingertip labor, allowing Zhang Yujiao to spend more time with her family.
After tasting the sweetness, in May 2026, she further installed the Jifei intelligent fertilization system. Dissolve fertilizer, mix fertilizer, irrigate, and operate the entire process with one mobile phone. The management of 17 areas no longer relies on manpower. The management efficiency has been improved, and the cost has also been reduced. Compared with hiring long-term workers, it saves about 40000 yuan per year.
From "carrying the burden alone" to "managing the orchard with a mobile phone", Zhang Yujiao's experience provides another perspective: when a female manager of a mountain orchard is equipped with suitable intelligent tools, her physical weakness can be filled by technology, and one person can manage 32 acres of land efficiently.
Zhang Yujiao, a grape grower from Binchuan County, Yunnan Province, shares her experience of intelligent transformation of grape water and fertilizer integration
Seeing tangible changes in himself, Zhang Zhen had a bigger idea: this good plan should be used by more people. With the channel of agricultural material services, he decided to bring the integrated water and fertilizer solution of Jifei to the people around him.
At the beginning of 2025, Zhang Zhen officially became a distributor of Jifei in Binchuan County, operating and managing Jifei Dali Service Station. Under his promotion, more than 180 smart farms have been established in Binchuan, Xiangyun, Midu and other places in Yunnan, which is freeing different types of growers from water and fertilizer labor.
Yang Qiang's over 80 acre citrus orchard, with a height difference of over 100 meters, was once an insurmountable hurdle. After installing intelligent electric valves, management finally no longer relies on human climbing; Yao Siyu used to have to shuttle back and forth between home and the ground every time he watered, but now he can remotely control it with just a mobile phone, greatly saving time and fuel costs
In Zhang Zhen's view, the intelligence of agricultural management is both an investment and a competitive advantage. He calculated the accounts for the farmers, and after connecting to the intelligent water and fertilizer system, the overall cost was saved by about 50%, and the fruit quality was improved by more than 30%. The savings are not only visible costs, but also invisible time and energy, which are the most tangible capital to combat market fluctuations.
Agricultural robots enter orchards
The observation and experience session is not just a dynamic display, but also a practical field operation. The on-site experience focused on orchard planting scenarios, and according to the actual working conditions of mountains and slopes, X series agricultural robots, P series agricultural drones and other products completed on-site dynamic demonstrations of plant protection, mowing, water and fertilizer management and other aspects.
Agricultural robots enter orchards and operate autonomously in real work scenarios, allowing visitors to see up close how intelligent equipment adapts to the daily management needs of local orchards and intuitively experience the intelligent management approach of "managing orchards with one mobile phone".
New Farmer Conference Yunnan Station Live Demonstration
Moving forward from a dry and hot valley, the exploration of how to "plant with ease and grow better" is still ongoing. The Yunnan station of the New Farmers' Conference has come to an end, but the pace of intelligent technology supporting agricultural development has not stopped.
Next stop, Guangxi - also a fruit producing province with dense hills and mountains, Jifei will continue to bring the X series and a complete set of smart agriculture solutions to more places that need them. See you in Guangxi.
