What are the precautions for using a backpack small harvester
Date: 2025-09-24Read: 22
The backpack type small harvester has the characteristics of being lightweight, flexible, and easy to operate, and is suitable for harvesting crops in small plots or complex terrains such as mountains and hills. Attention should be paid to pre operation preparation, operating standards, safety protection, equipment maintenance, and special environment response when using, as follows:

1、 Preparation before operation

  1. Check the equipment status
    • Visual inspectionConfirm that the body has no cracks or deformations, and that the fasteners (such as bolts and nuts) are not loose to prevent them from falling off or breaking during operation.
    • power system
      • Fuel model: Check if the fuel tank is full, if the fuel pipes are aging or leaking, to ensure smooth engine start-up.
      • Electric motor type: Check if the battery is fully charged and if the charging interface is intact to avoid power outages midway.
    • Cutting componentsCheck if the blade is sharp, has no gaps, and is securely installed to prevent it from breaking or flying out during cutting and injuring people.
    • Transmission systemCheck the tightness of the belt or chain. If it is too loose, it is easy to slip, and if it is too tight, it will accelerate wear. It needs to be adjusted to a suitable state.
  2. Wear protective equipment
    • Head protectionWear a safety helmet to prevent the head from being hit by flying debris or blade fragments.
    • body protectionWear long sleeved work clothes and durable pants to avoid direct skin contact with sharp parts or crop stems.
    • Hand protectionWear cut resistant gloves to prevent hands from being scratched by blades or scalded by high-temperature components.
    • Foot protectionWear non slip protective shoes to avoid slipping or being stabbed by sharp objects.
    • Hearing protectionWhen using fuel powered models for a long time, wear earplugs or earmuffs to reduce noise damage to hearing.
  3. Clean up the work site
    • Remove hard objects such as stones, branches, and wires from the site to prevent blades from breaking or splashing and injuring people.
    • Check if the terrain is flat and avoid working on steep slopes, deep trenches, or soft mud to prevent equipment from overturning.

2、 Operating standards

  1. Start and Stop
    • Before startupEnsure that the equipment is in neutral mode. For fuel powered models, close the air door, and for electric motor models, confirm that the power switch is turned off.
    • at startupAccording to the instructions, for fuel powered models, the starting rope should be pulled evenly, while for electric motor models, the starting button should be long pressed for 3-5 seconds.
    • During shutdownFirst, turn off the power (for fuel powered models, idle for 1-2 minutes before turning off the engine), wait for the blades to stop rotating before putting down the equipment.
  2. Homework posture and speed
    • postureMaintain body balance, adjust the shoulder and waist straps to a comfortable position when carrying equipment, and avoid muscle strain caused by prolonged unilateral force.
    • speedAdjust the forward speed according to crop density and height to avoid missing cuts or blade jamming caused by excessive speed.
    • directionMaintain straight line operation and reduce frequent turning to reduce equipment wear and operational difficulty.
  3. Cutting height adjustment
    • Adjust the gap between the blade and the ground according to the height of the crop, generally maintaining a distance of 5-10 centimeters between the blade and the ground to avoid wear or breakage caused by the blade touching the ground.
    • When cutting tall crops (such as corn), the blade position can be appropriately raised to prevent the stem from wrapping around the blade.

3、 Security protection

  1. Prevent blade injury
    • Keep no personnel or animals within 1 meter in front of the blade during homework to avoid flying debris injuring people.
    • When replacing the blade or cleaning the cutting chamber, be sure to first turn off the power and unplug the power plug (electric type) or close the fuel valve (fuel type) to prevent accidental starting.
  2. Avoid high temperature burns
    • When the fuel powered engine is running, the temperature is high. It is forbidden to touch the exhaust pipe, cylinder block, and other parts to prevent burns.
    • After prolonged operation, it is necessary to wait for the equipment to cool down before cleaning or maintenance.
  3. Prevent electric shock and fire
    • Electric equipment should use power cords and sockets that meet the standards to avoid line aging or overload that may cause fires.
    • Fuel powered models should be kept away from open flames and flammable materials. When refueling, the engine should be turned off and wait for 5 minutes until the oil temperature drops before operation.

4、 Equipment maintenance

  1. Daily cleaning
    • After each assignment, wipe the surface dust and oil stains of the equipment with a dry cloth, clean the residue and weeds in the cutting chamber, and prevent corrosion or blockage.
    • Fuel powered models need to clean the air filter to prevent dust from entering the engine and affecting performance.
  2. regular maintenance
    • Lubrication maintenanceAfter every 10 hours of work, apply lubricating grease to transmission components (such as bearings and chains) to reduce wear.
    • Blade inspectionAfter every 50 hours of work, check the wear of the blade. If the blade becomes dull or has a notch, it should be replaced or polished in a timely manner.
    • Belt/chain adjustmentAfter every 20 hours of work, check the tightness of the belt or chain and adjust or replace it if necessary.
  3. long-term storage
    • After cleaning the equipment, store it in a dry and ventilated room, avoiding direct sunlight and rain.
    • Fuel powered models need to empty the fuel tank to prevent deterioration and blockage of the oil circuit; The electric type requires a fully charged battery and regular charging (once every 3 months) to prevent battery damage due to battery depletion.

5、 Special environmental response

  1. humid environment
    • Avoid working on rainy days or when the dew is not dry, to prevent equipment from being short circuited or corroded due to water ingress.
    • If it is necessary to use in a humid environment, waterproof covers should be installed for electric equipment, and the operation time should be shortened. The equipment should be wiped dry in a timely manner.
  2. high-temperature environment
    • During summer work, avoid prolonged continuous use and take a 10 minute break every hour to prevent engine overheating.
    • Regularly check the cooling system (such as the cooling fins of fuel powered models) to ensure good ventilation.
  3. complex terrain
    • When working in mountainous or hilly areas, it is necessary to maintain low-speed driving, avoid sharp turns or starting on steep slopes, and prevent equipment from overturning.
    • When encountering obstacles, it is necessary to slow down and detour in advance, and it is forbidden to forcefully pass through to cause damage to the blade.
