What are the precautions for use of backpack spray
Date: 2025-12-24Read: 30
The backpack spray is a commonly used tool in the fields of agriculture, horticulture and public health, which is used to spray pesticides, herbicides, disinfectants and other liquids. Proper use can not only improve efficiency, but also ensure operational safety. The following are the precautions for the use of backpack spray, covering the preparation before operation, operation specifications, safety protection, maintenance and other aspects:

1、 Preparation and inspection before homework

  1. Equipment inspection
    • sealing performance: Check whether the connections of the spray (such as the spray bar, switch and medicine box cover) are well sealed to avoid leakage.
    • Nozzle and filter screenConfirm that the nozzle is unobstructed, the filter screen is clean and undamaged, and prevent impurities from blocking the nozzle or damaging the pump body.
    • Straps and Back PadsAdjust the length of the straps to a comfortable position, ensuring that the back cushion is soft and fits the back, reducing fatigue from prolonged work.
    • stress regulation: Test whether the pressure regulating valve is flexible to ensure that the spray pressure and range can be adjusted as required.
  2. Preparation of medicinal solution
    • Accurate proportioningStrictly follow the instructions of pesticides or disinfectants to prepare the drug solution, avoiding high concentration that may cause harm or low concentration that may affect the effectiveness.
    • Secondary dilutionFirst, add a small amount of water to dissolve the medicine, then replenish the water, stir evenly, and pour into the medicine box to prevent the medicine from settling or clumping.
    • Control of medication volumeThe amount of medicine should not exceed 80% of the capacity of the medicine box, and space should be reserved to prevent overflow when shaken.
  3. Environment and Protection
    • Weather selectionAvoid working in high temperatures (>35 ℃), strong winds (>4 levels), or rainy days to prevent the liquid medicine from evaporating too quickly or drifting to non target areas.
    • personal protectionWear protective clothing, masks, gloves, goggles, and non slip shoes to prevent medication from coming into contact with the skin or being inhaled into the respiratory tract.
    • Surrounding WarningWhen working in public areas, set up warning signs to prevent others from entering the spraying area by mistake.

2、 Operating standards and skills

  1. Startup and pressurization
    • Manual sprayShake the joystick up and down or press the pressure rod to maintain stable pressure (usually 0.2-0.3MPa), to avoid deformation of the medicine box or damage to the nozzle caused by excessive pressure.
    • electric sprayerCheck that the battery is fully charged and observe whether the motor runs smoothly without any abnormal noise after starting.
  2. Spray operation
    • Printhead HeightAdjust the nozzle position according to the height of the crop, maintain a distance of 30-50cm from the target crop, and ensure even coverage of the medicine.
    • 行走速度Keep walking at a constant speed to avoid uneven spraying caused by sudden changes in speed.
    • Spray directionWorking with downwind or crosswind to reduce the drift of medication; Use a "bottom-up" spraying method for tall crops (such as trees).
    • Local focusFor areas with severe pests and diseases or dense weeds, walking can be paused and targeted spraying can be carried out to enhance the effect.
  3. Avoiding operational errors
    • No air spraying allowed: It is forbidden to start the spray when there is no solution in the medicine box to prevent the pump body from idling and damage.
    • Do not tiltKeep the medicine box vertical during homework to avoid tilting and causing the medicine to flow into the pump body or motor (electric type).
    • No mixing allowedDifferent chemicals need to be cleaned in the medicine box before replacement to prevent toxic substances from being produced by chemical reactions.

3、 Safety protection and emergency response

  1. Liquid contact treatment
    • skin contactImmediately rinse with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention if necessary.
    • eye contactOpen the eyelids, rinse with flowing water for at least 15 minutes, and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
    • Inhalation poisoningQuickly transfer to a place with fresh air, keep breathing unobstructed, and in severe cases, seek medical treatment.
    • Accidental ingestion poisoningImmediately induce vomiting and bring medication packaging for medical treatment. Do not handle it on your own.
  2. Fire and explosion prevention
    • Keep away from sources of fire, heat, and static electricity, and prohibit the use of flammable chemicals in enclosed spaces (such as greenhouses).
    • The electric spray shall be charged in a ventilated and dry place to avoid overcharge or short circuit.
  3. Child and pet protection
    • After operation, place the spray out of the reach of children, and the liquid medicine bottle shall be capped and marked with "toxic" signs.
    • The spraying area needs to be isolated for more than 24 hours, and personnel or pets are allowed to enter after the medicine has dried.

4、 Maintenance and Storage

  1. Cleaning and rinsing
    • Rinse the medicine box, spray bar, and nozzle with clean water after each assignment to remove residual medicine and prevent corrosion.
    • The manual spray needs to drain the accumulated water in the pump body, and the electric spray needs to wipe the water on the motor surface.
  2. Component maintenance
    • sealing elementRegularly check whether the sealing ring is aging and replace it in a timely manner to prevent leakage.
    • nozzleClean the spray hole with a soft bristled brush to avoid deformation caused by scratching with hard objects.
    • Straps and Back PadsAfter cleaning, air dry to prevent mold or deformation.
  3. long-term storage
    • Empty all liquids from the medicine box and pump body, and keep them dry.
    • The battery of the electric spray shall be taken out and stored separately to avoid low temperature or humid environment.
    • Store in a ventilated, dry, and dark place, away from easily hygroscopic items such as fertilizers and seeds.

5、 Common problems and solutions

  1. Insufficient spray pressure
    • Check if there is any air leakage in the pressure rod/pump body, or if the nozzle filter is clogged.
    • The manual spray can increase the pressure by shaking the rocker several times. The electric spray needs to check the battery power or motor failure.
  2. Nozzle clogging
    • Close the spray, remove the nozzle and wash it with clean water, or use a fine needle to dredge the orifice.
    • Avoid using corrosive cleaning agents to prevent damage to the nozzle material.
  3. Straps broken or loose
    • Immediately stop the homework, replace the spare harness or adjust the fixing buckle to prevent the medicine box from falling off and injuring people.
