What are the common faults of household wire cutters
Date: 2025-07-23Read: 2
Although household wire cutters are compact in design and easy to operate, they may still malfunction due to improper operation, component wear, or insufficient maintenance during use. The following is a specific analysis:
1、 Malfunctions related to cutting quality
Uneven cutting width
Blade issue: The blade edge is not sharpened or some blades do not feed, resulting in continuous cutting or uneven width. It is necessary to check whether the blade is level, whether there are dents or blunt edges, and confirm whether the feed mechanism (such as the grinding wheel feed) is normal.
Improper gap adjustment: The gap between the knife door and the knife roller is too large or too small, which affects the cutting accuracy. Adjust the gap between the upper, lower, and side knife doors and knife rollers to the standard range according to equipment requirements.
Uneven feeding: Uneven material flow can lead to uneven cutting thickness. It is necessary to add a material distribution device (such as a fabric board) to ensure the balance of incoming materials and check the pushing condition of the compactor.
Cut the silk, run the pieces or remove the stem head
Assembly issues with knife doors: Inconsistent assembly between knife doors or uneven blade edges (such as gaps) can result in the material not being cut during cutting. Need to readjust the knife door assembly or replace the blade.
Abnormal moisture content of materials: Low moisture content can easily cause brittle cracking of materials, while high moisture content can lead to adhesion. The feeding process parameters (such as temperature and humidity) need to be adjusted according to the characteristics of the material.
Insufficient knife door pressure: Low compressed air pressure will result in insufficient compaction of the raw materials. Adjust the pressure regulating valve of the knife door to the standard value.
Adhesion after shredding
Excessive moisture content in incoming materials: High moisture content in materials can easily lead to adhesion after cutting. It is necessary to reduce the moisture content of the incoming material before cutting (such as adjusting the drying parameters of the front-end equipment).
Excessive pressure or wear on the knife door: Wear or excessive pressure on the lower knife door can compress the material. Replace the worn knife door and adjust the upper knife door pressure to an appropriate range.
The blade is not sharp: blunting the blade will tear the material instead of cutting it. Timely check the grinding wheel sharpening and blade feed system, and replace problematic parts.
2、 Equipment operation related faults
Poor cutting quality
Feeding mechanism malfunction: Abnormal transmission of the feeding device gear or jamming of some mechanisms, resulting in the cutter roller not feeding. Need to check the feed mechanism (such as worm, bearing, screw) and troubleshoot.
Skewness of feed: If the length of the blade extension is inconsistent or there is a gap on the blade edge, it is necessary to open the knife drum and check each blade one by one, and adjust the left and right half circle nuts to ensure reliable fit of the ratchet, worm gear and worm.
Roll material or extrusion knife door
Abnormal gap between copper bar chain: If the gap between the copper bar chain and the upper and lower knife door cover plates is too large or too small, it can cause material rolling or squeezing of the knife door. Need to readjust the gap to the standard range.
Copper bar chain deviation or overload: Copper bar chain deviation will rub against the side plate, while overload is caused by excessive pressure on the knife door or chain wear. It is necessary to check the chain tensioner and transmission lines (such as bearings and chains) and clean the dirt.
Knife phenomenon
The fixing of the knife gate seat is not firm: If the lower knife gate seat is loose, it will hug the knife roller during operation, causing cutting. Regular inspection and fastening of the knife door seat are required.
Improper operation: New equipment or unskilled operators may cause cutting due to misoperation. We need to strengthen training and follow operational standards.
3、 Electrical and safety faults
The main motor cannot start or operates abnormally
Power supply issue: Abnormal three-phase power supply or incorrect phase sequence can cause the motor to fail to start. Need to check the power supply and adjust the phase sequence.
Line malfunction: Damage to the contactor or aging of the line may cause abnormal operation. Repair or replace the contactor and troubleshoot the circuit.
Hydraulic system pressure too low
Oil pump malfunction: Worn oil pump or aging seals can cause insufficient pressure. Repair or replace the oil pump and check for leaks in the suction pipeline.
Oil problem: Low oil level or hydraulic oil contamination can affect system pressure. Add oil to the standard center and clean or replace the filter element.
Security protection triggered
Overload protection: Excessive pressure on the knife door or overload of the copper busbar chain will trigger the safety protection device (such as the safety pin cutting off). Need to investigate the cause of overload (such as material blockage, component wear) and replace the safety pin.
Electrical malfunction: Sensor or control circuit failure may result in false alarms. Need to check the sensor signal and repair the circuit.
