How to maintain a combine grain harvester
Date: 2025-10-10Read: 8
The maintenance of a combine grain harvester is crucial to ensure its efficient, stable operation, and extended service life. The following provides a detailed introduction to the maintenance methods of the combine grain harvester from five aspects: daily inspection, regular maintenance, seasonal maintenance, storage maintenance, and operating standards:
1、 Daily inspection
Pre-operation inspection
Fuel and lubricating oil: Check whether the fuel tank has sufficient oil to ensure that the fuel is free of impurities; Check the oil levels of engine oil, hydraulic oil, gear oil, etc. If they are insufficient, add them in a timely manner and pay attention to the cleanliness of the oil.
Cooling system: Check the coolant level to ensure it is within the normal range; Clean the dust and debris on the surface of the radiator to prevent blockage from affecting heat dissipation.
Tires and tracks: Check if the tire pressure meets the standard and if the tire tread is worn; If it is a tracked harvester, check the tension of the tracks and the wear of the track shoes.
Cutting table section: Check whether the cutting blade is sharp, whether there are gaps or wear; Check if the blade guard is intact and if the gap between the fixed blade and the moving blade is appropriate (usually 0.2-0.4 millimeters); Clean up the debris and straw on the cutting table.
Conveyor and threshing system: Check whether the tension of the conveyor chain and conveyor belt is appropriate, whether there is looseness or wear; Check whether the threshing drum, screen mesh and other components are intact, unobstructed or damaged.
Observation during homework
Listen for abnormal sounds: During the homework process, pay attention to whether there are any abnormal sounds in the engine, transmission system, etc. If there are any, stop the machine in time for inspection.
Observe instrument indicators: Pay attention to whether the water temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, tachometer and other instrument indicators are normal. If there are any abnormalities, they should be dealt with in a timely manner.
Check the quality of the homework: Observe whether the harvested grains are clean and undamaged, and whether the cutting height is consistent. If there are any abnormalities, adjust the relevant components.
2、 Regular maintenance
Engine maintenance
Change oil and filter: According to the engine manual, regularly change the oil and oil filter, usually every 100-200 hours of operation.
Cleaning the air filter: Regularly clean or replace the air filter to prevent dust from entering the engine and affecting performance.
Check and adjust valve clearance: Regularly check and adjust the engine valve clearance to ensure sufficient intake and smooth exhaust of the engine.
Maintenance of transmission system
Check and replace the drive belt: Regularly check the tension of the drive belt, and adjust it in a timely manner if it is loose; When the drive belt is severely worn, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
Check and lubricate bearings: Regularly check the lubrication condition of each bearing in the transmission system, add lubricating grease in a timely manner, and prevent bearing wear.
Check and adjust clutch: Regularly check whether the clutch disengages cleanly and engages smoothly. If there are any abnormalities, adjust or replace the clutch plates in a timely manner.
Hydraulic system maintenance
Check hydraulic oil: Regularly check the hydraulic oil level and quality, add it promptly if it is insufficient, and replace it promptly if the oil quality deteriorates.
Cleaning hydraulic filter: Regularly clean or replace the hydraulic filter to prevent impurities from entering the hydraulic system and affecting performance.
Check hydraulic pipelines: Regularly inspect hydraulic pipelines for leaks, wear, and other issues, and promptly address them if necessary.
3、 Seasonal maintenance
Pre harvest maintenance
Comprehensive inspection and debugging: Before the harvest season, conduct a comprehensive inspection and debugging of the combined grain harvester to ensure that all components perform well.
Replace vulnerable parts: Replace the cutting blade, drive belt, chain and other vulnerable parts in advance to prevent malfunctions during the operation process.
Trial operation: Conduct a trial operation before the formal operation to check whether the harvester runs smoothly and whether all components are working properly.
Post harvest maintenance
Cleaning: After the harvest season, clean the combine grain harvester to remove soil, straw, and other debris from the machine body, cutting platform, and conveying system.
Rust prevention treatment: Apply rust prevention oil, spray rust prevention paint, etc. to metal parts to prevent rusting.
Storage preparation: Park the harvester indoors in a dry and ventilated area, avoiding outdoor storage; Remove the battery and store it separately, and regularly charge and maintain it.
4、 Storage and maintenance
Preparation before long-term storage
Drain fuel and coolant: Before long-term storage, the fuel tank and cooling system should be drained of fuel and coolant to prevent deterioration and corrosion of components.
Cleaning and lubrication: Thoroughly clean the harvester and lubricate all moving parts to prevent rust and wear.
Support and fixation: Support the harvester on a flat ground and secure it with wooden blocks or specialized support frames to prevent deformation of the machine body.
Inspection during storage
Regular start-up: During long-term storage, the engine should be started regularly to allow the harvester to run for a period of time to prevent component rust and aging.
Check components: Regularly inspect all parts of the harvester for looseness, rust, and other issues. If any are found, they should be dealt with promptly.
5、 Operating standards and precautions
Standard operation
Avoid overloading operations: Adjust the operating speed and load reasonably based on the performance of the harvester and crop conditions to avoid component damage caused by overloading operations.
Smooth operation: When starting, turning, lifting and cutting the platform, it should be carried out smoothly, avoiding sudden acceleration, sudden braking and other violent operations.
Pay attention to safety: During the operation, safety should be taken into account to avoid accidents such as personal injury and equipment damage.
Training and Learning
Operator training: Provide professional training to operators to familiarize them with the performance, operation methods, and maintenance knowledge of the harvester.
Learning new technologies: Pay attention to the development of new technologies and methods for harvesters, constantly learn and improve operational skills and maintenance levels.
