Special attention should be paid to the daily inspection of sorghum hullerSafety protection, critical component status, operating parameters, and cleaning and maintenanceFour major aspects are taken to ensure efficient operation of equipment, reduce failure rates, and ensure the safety of operators. The following are specific inspection points and precautions:

1、 Security protection inspection

  1. Integrity of protective devices
    • inspection itemsConfirm that all protective covers (such as belt pulleys, gears, and hulling drum protective covers), emergency stop buttons, and safety warning signs are intact and undamaged.
    • PrecautionsMissing or loose protective covers may cause operators to come into contact with rotating parts, leading to mechanical injuries; The emergency stop button needs to be tested regularly to ensure that the power can be immediately cut off.
  2. Electrical safety
    • inspection itemsCheck whether the grounding wire of the motor and control cabinet is firm, and whether the cable sheath is damaged or aged.
    • PrecautionsPoor grounding may cause electrical leakage, and cable damage should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid the risk of short circuit or electric shock.
  3. Safe operating environment
    • inspection itemsConfirm that there are no debris piled up around the equipment, the ventilation openings are unobstructed, and safety facilities such as fire extinguishers and dust concentration detectors are in place.
    • PrecautionsDuring the process of husking sorghum, dust is easily generated. It is necessary to maintain ventilation in the environment to prevent dust explosions or fires.

2、 Key component status check

  1. Shedding drum and screen mesh
    • inspection items
      • Whether the rubber layer or metal teeth on the surface of the hulling drum are worn, deformed, or detached.
      • Whether the sieve mesh is damaged, blocked or deformed, and whether the sieve holes are unobstructed.
    • Precautions
      • The wear of the drum can lead to a decrease in the efficiency of shell removal, and it needs to be replaced regularly (usually checked once every quarter).
      • Blockage of the sieve will affect material separation, and it needs to be cleaned with a soft bristled brush to avoid scratching the sieve with hard objects and causing damage.
  2. Transmission system
    • inspection items
      • Is the tension of the belt and chain appropriate (too loose can cause slipping, while too tight can increase wear).
      • Whether the coupling bolts are tightened, and whether there is any deviation or abnormal noise in the transmission shaft.
    • Precautions
      • When the belt wear exceeds 1/3 of the bandwidth or the elongation exceeds 5%, it needs to be replaced.
      • Deviation of the transmission shaft may cause increased vibration, and it is necessary to adjust the alignment or replace the bearings.
  3. Fan and air duct
    • inspection items
      • Whether the fan impeller is attached with dust or impurities, and whether the air volume is stable.
      • Whether the air duct is leaking or blocked, and whether the dust collector filter bag is damaged.
    • Precautions
      • Dust accumulation on the impeller will reduce the airflow and requires regular cleaning (recommended once a week).
      • Damaged filter bags can lead to a decrease in dust removal efficiency and require timely replacement (usually checked every six months).

3、 Monitoring of operating parameters

  1. Motor temperature and current
    • inspection itemsTouch the motor casing with your hand, and the temperature should not exceed 65 ℃ (with the assistance of an infrared thermometer); Observe whether the ammeter reading is within the rated range.
    • PrecautionsOverheating of the motor may be caused by excessive load, poor heat dissipation, or unstable voltage, and it needs to be stopped for troubleshooting.
  2. Shedding efficiency and discharge quality
    • inspection itemsRegularly check the separation rate between the hulled sorghum kernels and shells to confirm that there are no large amounts of unshelled grains or broken kernels.
    • PrecautionsLow shelling efficiency may be due to excessive drum clearance, clogged screen mesh, or insufficient air flow. It is necessary to adjust the drum clearance or clean the screen mesh.
  3. Vibration and Noise
    • inspection itemsListen to whether there is any abnormal noise during the operation of the equipment (such as bearing friction, screen collision), and observe whether the equipment vibration is uniform.
    • PrecautionsAbnormal vibration may be caused by an unbalanced screen body, broken springs, or loose transmission components. It is necessary to shut down and tighten bolts or replace springs.

4、 Cleaning and lubrication maintenance

  1. Residual material cleaning
    • inspection itemsAfter shutdown, clean the residual sorghum kernels, shells, or impurities in the feed inlet, hulling drum, screen, discharge outlet, and dust collector.
    • PrecautionsResidual materials are prone to mold or blockage of equipment, and should be cleaned with a soft bristled brush or compressed air to avoid short circuits in electrical components caused by rinsing with water.
  2. Lubrication and maintenance
    • inspection itemsAdd lubricating grease (such as lithium based grease) to motor bearings, transmission chains, vibrating screen bearings, and other parts.
    • PrecautionsInsufficient lubrication can accelerate component wear, and lubrication should be carried out according to the cycle and amount specified in the equipment manual (usually once a shift or once a week).
  3. Dust collector discharge
    • inspection itemsIf equipped with a pulse dust collector, it is necessary to regularly discharge the accumulated dust in the ash hopper (usually 1-2 times per shift).
    • PrecautionsOverfilling of the ash hopper will affect the dust removal efficiency, and a level gauge needs to be installed to monitor the dust accumulation.
