1、 Sesame production situation and market trend

Since 2020, China's sesame imports have exceeded 1 million tons for three consecutive years, mainly from African countries such as Nigeria, Niger, Sudan, Togo, and Mozambique. These countries have high-quality sesame varieties and low prices, which are highly favored by downstream sesame industries in China. It is expected that in the future, imported sesame will still be mainly from major African sesame producing countries.

2、 Distribution of Sesame Industry Chain

The upstream of the sesame industry chain is mainly sesame cultivation, the midstream is mainly sesame picking, and the downstream industries are widely distributed, mainly sesame oil, feed and fertilizer, industrial and pharmaceutical, and catering markets. Before sesame seeds are harvested and enter downstream markets, they need to be sorted and processed to remove impurities. Then select the processed sesame seeds of different grades and enter the corresponding downstream market for further processing and production.

The import volume of Chinese sesame is much higher than the export volume, indicating that there is a large demand for sesame in the Chinese market. The local sesame production in China is not enough to meet the market demand, so a large part of it relies on imports.

With the implementation of the township revitalization strategy and policy support for the development of characteristic industries, sesame production and sowing area will continue to increase; With the improvement of national consumption level, the demand for sesame and other foods is also constantly increasing. The continuous development of the sesame industry chain will lead to standardization and branding of China's sesame industry, and the market volume of China's sesame industry will continue to grow in the future.
